Posted

CHELAN COUNTY – Federal authorities say Travis Decker Googled “how to move to canada” days before his visitation, as the search for the triple murder suspect enters its second week.

On June 5, the U.S. Marshals Service filed a criminal complaint and issued a federal arrest warrant for Travis Decker on a charge of unlawful flight to avoid prosecution. According to the affidavit, a deputy marshal reviewed Google search history from Decker’s account dating back to May 26, which included phrases such as “how does a person move to Canada,” “how to relocate to Canada,” “jobs Canada,” and “Find a job - Canada.ca.”

U.S. Marshals believe Decker may be attempting to flee across the Canadian border.

According to a June 6 update from the Chelan County Sheriff’s Office, over a hundred officers, agents and deputies are investigating over 500 tips from the public that have been received so far. Surveillance video, photos, and tips have continuously surfaced from the public, “which aids decision making.” Detectives are working on in-depth investigations to narrow the focus of the search.

“Despite the many challenges faced and the complex on-going murder investigation, morale and effort remains extremely high within staff at the Command Post,” the update wrote.

The Chelan County Sheriff’s Office has given notice to, and is working in conjunction with the surrounding counties in the event that Decker moves through the forest into their jurisdiction.

Public access to surrounding forest areas remains closed until further notice, including Icicle Creek area and the Lake Chelan National Recreation Area within North Cascades National Park Service Complex.

Decker is wanted on three counts of first-degree murder and three counts of first-degree kidnapping in the deaths of his daughters — Paityn Decker, 9; Evelyn Decker, 8; and Olivia Decker, 5.

The bodies of the girls were discovered Monday in a remote area near Icicle Road outside Leavenworth, days after they were last seen with their father on May 30 during a scheduled visitation. Decker remains at large, and authorities said he should be considered dangerous.

A reward of up to $20,000 is being offered for information that leads directly to his arrest. He is described as a white male, 5-foot-8, 190 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.

If you see, or believe you have seen Decker, call 911 immediately. Do not attempt to contact or approach him. Authorities say Decker may be armed and is considered dangerous.
