EAST WENATCHEE — A Bridgeport man wanted on attempted murder and drive-by shooting warrants was arrested Oct. 6 after deputies investigated a crash that damaged a Douglas County PUD power box and prompted reports of a nearby power outage.
Alexander Flores-Aguilar, 20, was one of three people deputies located after callers reported seeing three individuals in black hooded sweatshirts leave a crashed passenger car in the 2800 block of North Baker Avenue, according to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies, East Wenatchee police officers and Washington State Patrol troopers responded. Deputies found three people matching the callers’ descriptions in the 100 block of 27th Street Northwest.
The three initially did not comply with deputies but began cooperating as additional units arrived, the sheriff’s office said. Investigators determined they had been involved in the collision. All three said they were uninjured and did not need medical attention.
Flores-Aguilar had an outstanding Douglas County misdemeanor warrant for third-degree malicious mischief and Okanogan County felony warrants for first-degree attempted murder and drive-by shooting, according to the sheriff’s office.
He was taken into custody without incident. Deputies reported finding two firearms and a substance believed to be an illegal controlled substance in a backpack in his possession.
Flores-Aguilar was booked into the Chelan County Regional Justice Center on the outstanding warrants and on suspicion of two counts of first-degree unlawful possession of a firearm and possession of a controlled substance.
Deputies identified a 16-year-old boy as the driver. He had an outstanding Douglas County misdemeanor warrant for having no valid operator’s license without identification.
The boy was booked into the Chelan County Juvenile Detention Center on that warrant and on suspicion of hit-and-run involving unattended property damage.
The other juvenile was released to a guardian and had no pending criminal charges, according to the sheriff’s office.
The vehicle, registered to the arrested boy’s father, was towed from the scene.
