WENATCHEE — The Wenatchee Valley Humane Society (WVHS) will host its second annual Santa Paws 2K/5K run/walk on Saturday, December 14, along the Apple Capital Loop Trail to raise funds for pets in need across North Central Washington.

The event, part of WVHS's Pets & People Outdoors initiative, features both 2K and 5K routes, with the longer course extending from Wenatchee Valley Brewing to Walla Walla Point Park and back.

“This fun run/walk is a great way to get outdoors with your dog and your family and friends and make a big difference to pets in need,” said WVHS Development Director, Pamela Nelle. “Get creative making a festive costume and you might win an awesome prize, but you will definitely have fun! Let’s get together in the holiday spirit and support homeless pets who would love to be walking in Santa Paws with their new family next year.”

The event begins with Santa photos from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., featuring L-Santa the Claus. Registration opens at 9:30 a.m., with the run/walk starting at 10:30 a.m. Participants can compete for prizes in categories including best costume, most festive costume, best team theme, and best team name.

Major sponsors include Confluence Health, Wenatchee Valley Medical Group Community Partnership Fund, and Numerica Credit Union. Local businesses Dorey Photography, Firehouse Pet Store, Dawg Zoomies, Cairdeas Winery, and Worx have contributed photography services, treats, and prizes.

The event concludes with an awards ceremony and brunch at the pet-friendly Wenatchee Valley Brewing. Registration is available through the WVHS website.
