Wesley Morris

Posted

On October 7, loving husband and father Wes Morris passed away at the age of 77.

Wes Morris was born in South Dakota to George and Irene Morris. They quickly made their way to Washington, where Wes attended school in Manson. He was in the US Forest Service and spent 10 years in the Army Reserves. He earned his bachelor’s degree at Eastern Washington State and his Master in Industrial Arts at OSU.

Wes married Paula Gordon and moved to Oregon where he started working at Molalla High School, teaching wood and metal shop for over 30 years. He made many wonderful friendships and felt fortunate to be at a school that still prioritized vocational skills.

Wes was passionate about serving his community. He was heavily involved in his church and both the senior center and food bank in Wilsonville. Over the years, he was able to merge his interests, creating a playground for his daughter and church, designing wood swords for his Tai Chi group and numerous metal artworks. He was always curious and interested in learning, especially about his Christian faith and humanity.

He is so loved by his family. Wes is survived by his wife Ginny, daughter Andrea, brother Marty, brother-in-law Sherwood, his step-daughters Christy and Amy, their husbands and many grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his first wife Paula (d. 2013).

A celebration of life will be held on October 19th from 3-6pm at the McMenamins Wilsonville Old Church.
