Howard Harlan Honeysett

Posted

Howard Harlan Honeysett, born August 9, 1947, was adopted at birth by Louise and George Honeysett in Leavenworth, WA, along with his sister Patricia. He passed away at his home on August 21, 2026, and is survived by his two children, Casey and Aubyn Honeysett, along with his former spouse, Karin Sandidge.

Growing up in Leavenworth, Howard developed a love for the outdoors. He went on hunting, hiking, and camping trips with friends and family up the Icicle and around the valley. He spent countless hours at the Leavenworth Golf Course with his father George. As a child, his father taught him to ski at the Leavenworth Ski Hill, where he would later teach his own children.

Howard proudly served in the United States Marine Corps from 1967-1973, doing a tour in Vietnam as an artillery batteryman and section chief of a 105 Howitzer crew. For his service he earned a Purple Heart and an honorable discharge.

Upon returning from Vietnam, his love for Alaska drew him to Ketchikan to work on salmon boats. Later, he moved to George and Louise’s ranch in Quincy. In the following years he worked as a journeyman bricklayer, putting up many commercial structures around the Wenatchee Valley.

Howard was surrounded by family and friends in the Wenatchee Valley, working in orchards owned by the Honeysett and Gibbons families. When his children were young, his dream came true to move back to Leavenworth. He built his forever home at the base of Tumwater Mountain, his favorite place on earth. He lived there until his final days.

Howard’s Celebration of Life will be Saturday, September 19 at the Peshastin Memorial Hall between 2 and 5 p.m. His website https://www.celebratehoward.com/ is a resource available for friends and family to share pictures and stories (currently under construction).
