WENATCHEE — Two players with ties to the University of Washington are set to join the Wenatchee AppleSox this summer, bringing different backgrounds and experience levels to the club's 2026 roster.
First baseman Ethan Mar and right-handed pitcher Noah Sorensen will both play for Wenatchee before becoming teammates with the Huskies during the 2026-27 collegiate season.
Mar, a freshman at Tacoma Community College, earned a spot with Washington after a productive first junior college season. In 37 games, he batted .333 with a 1.007 OPS, 30 RBIs, 10 doubles and six home runs. He also stole 11 bases while being caught once.
Defensively, Mar committed three errors and posted a .990 fielding percentage at first base.
The Gig Harbor High School graduate also produced strong numbers during his senior season, batting .467 with a 1.231 OPS, 21 RBIs, 21 hits, four doubles and two triples. He finished his high school career with a .987 fielding percentage.
Mar is expected to provide offensive production and defensive stability in the AppleSox infield as he prepares for the transition to Division I baseball.
Sorensen arrives in Wenatchee with a different profile.
The redshirt freshman from Poulsbo has completed two seasons at Washington but has not yet appeared in a game for the Huskies. He also has not played summer collegiate baseball, making his time with the AppleSox a potential opportunity for regular game action.
Before joining Washington, Sorensen was ranked as the No. 2 right-handed pitcher and No. 5 overall player in Washington while playing at North Kitsap High School. He earned All-State honors and was named his league's Most Valuable Player.
Limited statistical information is available from his high school career. Recorded pitching statistics show one relief appearance during his junior season, when he posted a 3.50 ERA after allowing one earned run.
With little collegiate game experience and limited available statistics, Sorensen enters the summer as one of the more intriguing additions to the AppleSox roster.
The AppleSox open the 2026 season May 29 on the road against the Edmonton RiverHawks at RE/MAX Field. Wenatchee's home opener is scheduled for June 5 against the Kamloops NorthPaws at Paul Thomas Sr. Stadium.
Wenatchee will play 29 home games during the 2026 campaign. The franchise has won five West Coast League championships, the second-most in league history.
