Joel Davis, 51, a former resident of the Chelan Valley, passed away peacefully after a struggle with cancer on September 21, 2024. He was surrounded by his family.

Joel was born in Sheridan, Montana on April 28, 1973, and spent his younger years in Bozeman and Big Timber, MT., before his family moved to the Chelan Valley. Joel lived and worked in Stehekin in his early 20’s, which was one of his favorite places. He was a kind and generous soul who loved helping others, which led to work in the medical field. Joel worked at Lake Chelan Hospital, Regency Manor in Chelan, and Cascade Hospital Medical Center. Joel later took a job commercial fishing in the Bering Sea. He spent the last portion of his life living in Yakima, working for Walker Bay Boats and as a landscaper.

Joel is survived by his parents, Lee Vonne Forney and Carl Davis; his stepfather Michael Forney; his grandmother, Mary Davis; his brothers, Jason and Nathan Davis; sister, Kelly Baraibar; his children David Davis, Kyla Chavolla, Maria Chavolla, and Maya McDonald.

Joel’s spirit will live on in the hearts of those who loved him and in the wild places he cherished. Joel was a beloved son, father, brother, uncle, cousin, and a friend to many.

A celebration of Joel’s life will be held on October 20th, from 2-4, at the Chelan Senior Center @ 534 E. Trow Ave. In lieu of flowers, Joel’s wish was for donations to be made to Operation Smile at operationsmile.org.
