Genevieve Elaine Smith, age 87, passed away on August 30, 2026, wrapped in the loving arms of her namesake granddaughter, Genevieve Stephens. This Amazing Woman is now in the arms of Jesus, her husband and parents. She is finally released from a series of difficult illnesses. Free to go forward into her heavenly life and together again with her loving husband, Al.
Genevieve Smith was a faithful Christian, wife, mother, aunt, and friend to all in her life. Born in Alturas, California, raised in Klamath Falls, Oregon, and later in Vancouver, WA. As a single mother to 2 little girls in the early 1960s, she was able to raise them in the way God and her parents taught her. She purchased a home and was able to take them on adventures that taught them to appreciate the world around us.
Gen and Al moved to Leavenworth in 1988. Her family and church were first and foremost in her life. She was a skilled gardener, Grandma, seamstress, and knitter. She cherished any opportunity to share in the school and sports activities of her grandchildren. She was a member of the Leavenworth Methodist Church, local Garden Club, Heilfreich Hausfraun, and local Blood Drives.
After living with her daughter's family for a short time, God Called Her Home. Genevieve is survived by her children, Lee; Pat (Kim); Kathy (Randy); Jeff (Kathy); Cindy; Carolyn(Tane); and Kathy (Brendan), with 15 Grandchildren and 16 Great-Grandchildren filling the family tree.
Celebration of Life, Saturday, October 17, 1 PM @ Leavenworth Methodist Church. Reception following.
