CHELAN — Classic cars, trucks, motorcycles and newer performance vehicles will fill Riverwalk Park Sept. 12 as the Fall Into Chelan Car Show returns for its 22nd year.
The annual event draws vehicle owners from throughout Washington, neighboring states and Canada, with entries ranging from restored classics and custom builds to late-model vehicles.
The show grew from a group of local car enthusiasts that included former Chelan Mayor Bob Goedde and Leo Miller. It is now organized by the Lake Chelan Car Club, a nonprofit organization that has been in existence since 2004.
Fall Into Chelan is an open show, welcoming vehicles regardless of make, model or year. Organizers say the quality of entries has grown over the years, with everything from classic cars and custom builds to late-model vehicles such as Ferraris making appearances.
Beyond the cars, proceeds from the annual event support skilled-trades education at Chelan and Manson high schools. The club provides funding to both schools for equipment and supplies supporting students interested in working with their hands and pursuing skilled trades.
Young visitors will also get a say in the competition. Children ages 12 and younger can vote for the “Kids Choice” award, with each participating child receiving a Hot Wheels car after casting a ballot.
The two-day event begins Sept. 11 with pre-registration from 4 to 7 p.m. at Lake Chelan Garages. The Friday gathering offers an early opportunity to see show entries and mingle with vehicle owners in a more relaxed setting, with music and food vendors.
On Sept. 12, vehicle parking begins at 8 a.m. at Riverwalk Park, with awards presented at 2 p.m. Winners receive the show’s signature crystal apple trophies.
The Fall Into Chelan Car Show is free and open to spectators. For more information, visit www.lakechelancarclub.com.
