CHELAN — Three candidates will interview Sept. 22 for the vacant Position 1 seat on the Chelan City Council.

The vacancy was created after Councilmember Terry Sanders moved to Manson and became ineligible to serve; councilmembers must live within Chelan city limits. The appointee will serve until the results of the next municipal election are certified in November 2027.

The interviews will begin during the council’s regular meeting at 5:15 p.m. at Chelan City Hall. Councilmembers are expected to make an appointment before the meeting concludes.

The three candidates are Danny “Dan” Boone, Jim Edinger and Willie Jensen.

Boone is a retired police chief with decades of public service experience. According to information provided by the city, he has worked in tourism-driven communities and hopes to apply his background in public safety, community leadership and fiscal stewardship while improving communication between residents and the council.

Edinger is a Chelan business owner with more than 35 years of experience in property management, financial oversight and community governance through the ownership and operation of J & M Management. According to the city, his background includes budgeting, long-range planning, policy administration and collaborative leadership.

Jensen is a Washington-licensed attorney and Chelan resident with experience in law, business, compliance and policy analysis. According to the city, he is seeking to bring an independent and pragmatic approach to evaluating community issues.

Each candidate identified preserving Chelan’s small-town character and quality of life as a priority while the community continues to grow.

A fourth application was submitted but later withdrawn by the applicant, according to the city.

The interviews and appointment will be conducted during the regular council meeting at City Hall, 135 E. Johnson Ave. The meeting is open to the public.
