WENATCHEE — Chelan PUD will hold free activities, treats and giveaways from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. each weekday Oct. 5-9 at its Service Center, 203 Olds Station Road in Wenatchee, as part of Public Power Week.
Each day focuses on a different part of the customer-owned utility's work:
- Monday, Oct. 5: Parks, recreation, and fish and wildlife programs, plus information on 2027 parks passes.
- Tuesday, Oct. 6: Ways to save energy and money, including rebates, income-qualified programs and the PUD's 25% Bill Assistance Program.
- Wednesday, Oct. 7: Kids Day, with a bucket truck, a vac truck and a Fish & Wildlife boat to explore, a visit from Rocky, the Discovery Center mascot, and electrical safety demonstrations at 11:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 1:30 p.m.
- Thursday, Oct. 8: Finding household water leaks, conserving water, and how the PUD provides water and wastewater service.
- Friday, Oct. 9: The utility's history and its 50-year vision, plus a drawing for a behind-the-scenes tour of Rocky Reach Dam.
Public Power Week is held nationally during the first full week of October to highlight community-owned utilities.
"Public power is about neighbors helping neighbors," Chelan PUD Commissioner Randy Smith said.
