EAST WENATCHEE — The East Wenatchee City Council will meet on Tuesday, Nov. 19, to discuss the 2025 budget, tax levy adjustments, and funding for local initiatives. The meeting is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. at City Hall.
Agenda Items
The meeting will include the first readings of Ordinance 2024-05, which sets the 2025 exempt salary schedule, and Ordinance 2024-06, which outlines the proposed final budget for the fiscal year beginning Jan. 1, 2025. Both items will be presented by Finance Director Josh DeLay. Public hearings will be held to allow residents to provide input on these matters. Final decisions are expected during the Dec. 3 council meeting.
Tax Levy and Safety Projects
The council will vote on Ordinance 2024-04, which proposes a 1% increase in the regular property tax levy for 2025. The ordinance includes provisions for increases related to new construction and improvements to property.
Another item under consideration is Resolution 2024-69, which would authorize an interlocal agreement with KPG Psomas to create a Safe Streets for All Action Plan. The plan includes measures to improve pedestrian and traffic safety and update the city’s compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act.
Event Funding
The council will also review a funding request from the North Central Washington Volleyball Club for two upcoming tournaments in January and February 2025. The proposed funding, totaling $10,000, would be allocated from lodging tax revenue.
Public Participation
The meeting will be open to the public and livestreamed via Zoom. Residents who wish to comment on the agenda items can do so in person, remotely, or by submitting written statements prior to the meeting.
