CHELAN COUNTY - State Rep. Mike Steele has strengthened his lead in Washington's 12th Legislative District race, capturing 64.3% of the total vote across all three counties, according to updated election results released Wednesday.
The incumbent Republican has captured 69.91% of the vote in Chelan County and maintains strong leads in both King and Snohomish counties. The latest tallies show Steele with 20,171 votes to fellow Republican Daniel Scott's 8,197 votes in Chelan County.
In King County, where ballot counting continues, Steele leads with 56.87% (8,044 votes) to Scott's 39.16% (5,539 votes). Snohomish County results show Steele ahead with 53.54% (7,545 votes) to Scott's 43.68% (6,155 votes).
The race features two Republicans vying for the position after advancing from the primary. Steele, who serves as Deputy Minority Leader, has held the seat since first being elected to the Washington House of Representatives in 2017.
The 12th Legislative District spans portions of Chelan, King, and Snohomish counties in central Washington.
The next ballot count updates are scheduled for Thursday, November 7. Final election results will be certified on November 26.
