Keith Goehner leads in race for 12th District State Senate seat

CHELAN COUNTY – Washington State Representative Keith Goehner is slated to be the next 12th District State Senator following preliminary election results.

District wide, Goehner leads with 55.6 percent of the vote (33,419 votes) over former Snoqualmie City Councilmember Jim Mayhew, who received 26,643 votes. Goehner had 63 percent favorability in Chelan County and 55 percent in Snohomish County. Mayhew had success in King County with nearly 59 percent of the vote. Neither candidate responded for immediate comment on the results of the election.

The position is currently held by Sen. Brad Hawkins who forwent his re-election bid to run for Chelan County Commissioner for District 3.

A total of 32,140 ballots have been counted for Chelan County with an estimated 7,255 ballots left to count. The next ballot count is anticipated on Nov. 6 at 5 p.m.
