Hawkins holds strong lead over Hartwig for county commissioner race

Posted

CHELAN COUNTY – Current State Senator Brad Hawkins is on track to be the next Chelan County Commissioner for District 3.

Hawkins leads with nearly 66 percent of the vote (18,690 votes) over business owner and real estate developer Flint Hartwig, who received 9,723 votes.

Hawkins previously served as a state representative and is currently serving his second term in the State Senate. His father served two terms as Chelan County Commissioner for District 3 several years ago, before retiring early to care for his ailing wife.

“Thank you to my family and all of my supporters for their unwavering support throughout my campaign. I'm very grateful for such a positive result. Serving as our State Senator has been the privilege of my professional career, but I'm really looking forward to bringing my background and experiences to the county and focusing all of my efforts to help us here. Throughout my service, I've always worked hard to be collaborative, respect differences, treat people with kindness, and deliver results. I'll take this same approach as our next Chelan County Commissioner,” said Hawkins in an email to Ward Media.

Hartwig did not respond for immediate comment.

Chelan County District 1 Commissioner Kevin Overbay, first elected in 2016 and re-elected in 2020, ran unopposed for another four-year term.

A total of 32,140 ballots have been counted with an estimated 7,255 ballots left to count. The next ballot count is anticipated on Nov. 6 at 5 p.m.
