Chelan County Fire Levy maintains narrow lead in latest count

Posted

CHELAN COUNTY — Chelan County Fire District No. 8's property tax levy proposition continues to hold a slim margin of approval in the latest vote count released Wednesday.

According to updated election results, the measure is passing with 53.92% (640 votes) in favor and 46.08% (547 votes) against, maintaining a similar margin from Tuesday's initial count.

The proposition, outlined in Resolution No. 2024-1, seeks to establish a levy of $0.95 per $1,000 of assessed property valuation. If approved, the levy would take effect in 2025, with funds designated for capital equipment replacement and volunteer support services within the fire district.

The measure represents a crucial funding mechanism for the district's emergency response capabilities. The 2024 levy amount would establish the base for subsequent levy limitations, ensuring sustained funding for equipment upgrades and volunteer resources.

This latest count reflects an increase in total votes processed, with 1,187 ballots now counted compared to Tuesday's initial tally of 1,043 votes.

The next ballot count is scheduled for Thursday, November 7, at 5:00 p.m. Election officials will continue processing remaining ballots, with final certification scheduled for Tuesday, November 26.
