WENATCHEE — Emergency crews responded Thursday afternoon, February 5, just after 2 p.m., when a construction worker fell two floors at a downtown Wenatchee construction site, according to Andrew Davidson, deputy chief of operations with the Wenatchee Valley Fire Department.
Davidson said firefighters and Ballard Ambulance were dispatched at about 2:11 p.m. to the Majestic Project, the seven-story, 212-unit apartment building under construction at the corner of Kittitas and Mission streets.
Upon arrival, crews found the worker on the fourth floor of the structure. Davidson said the worker appeared to have non-life-threatening injuries, but his condition warranted transport to a hospital for further evaluation and treatment.
Because of the worker’s location within the building, Davidson said removing him through conventional means would have been difficult and time-consuming. Fire crews instead determined that the safest and fastest option was to use a ladder truck to crane the patient from the fourth floor to ground level — a maneuver that Wenatchee Valley Fire Department ladder crews train for regularly.
The patient was moved safely without incident and transported by Ballard Ambulance to Confluence Health Hospital, Davidson said. Fire crews were clear of the scene, and the transport was completed by 2:52 p.m.
Davidson credited RiverCom for providing dispatch and communication services, Wenatchee police officers for assisting with traffic control and scene logistics, and Ballard Ambulance for providing advanced life support care and transport.
No additional details about the worker’s identity or condition were released.
