Where to have a spooky time in the Upper Valley this Halloween

LEAVENWORTH — From haunted houses to spooky story time, Halloween in the upper valley is packed with family friendly activities. Whether it's dancing to music at Stein or trick-or-treating through downtown Leavenworth, there’s something for every ghoul and goblin this spooky season.

Ski Hilloween 

On Oct. 29, the Leavenworth Winter Sports Club will host Ski Hilloween at the Ski Hill Lodge. This free event will have live music on the patio, a costume contest and prizes, trick or treating, and a haunted house. Ski Hilloween will take place from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., and is family friendly.

Leavenworth Trick-or-Treat

Put your costume on, grab your candy bag, and head to town for Leavenworth’s annual trick-or-treat event from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Trick-or-treaters will have the chance to go door to door of nearly 80 participating businesses. A map will be available at Leavenworth.org in the days leading up to the event.

Free Halloween Photos

For over 30 years, Mike West Leavenworth Realty has been the go-to for Halloween photos and celebration. Its annual community lunch will take place from 11 a.m to 1 p.m. on Halloween. It will be taking family Halloween photos and passing out candy from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Mike West Leavenworth Realty office: 940A US Highway 2.

Afternoon trick-or-treating at the senior center

Mountain Meadows Senior Living will be hosting its annual trick-or-treating event from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at 320 Park Avenue in Leavenworth on Oct. 31. Trick-or-treaters should arrive in costume with a bag to carry the candy passed out by Mountain Meadows residents. All ages are welcome.

Light the Night Community Carnival

The family friendly community carnival at the Leavenworth Church of the Nazarene will return for another year. This free event will feature games, food, candy and more on Oct. 31, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at 111 Ski Hill Drive.

Plain Trunk or Treat

For Plain residents, a Trunk or Treat will be held in the parking lot of Plain Hardware on Oct. 31. Those wanting to set up a trunk should arrive at 5:30 p.m. Trick or treating will commence a 6 p.m. and go until 8 p.m. (via LWFR)

Leavenworth Library

The Leavenworth Library will have spooky story time, a green screen photo booth, crafts and games for kids elementary age and younger. The free event will take place from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Oct. 31. Spooky story time will start at 3:30 p.m., and again at 4:30 p.m. Make the library a stop on your downtown trick-or-treat route! 

Bandits of the Animal Kingdom at Stein

Stein will host its annual Halloween costume contest with live music from Bandits of the Animal Kingdom. This 21+ event will have a $10 cover, with a $500 prize for the best costume, and $200 for the runner up. The event is 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Halloween night.

Leavenworth Adventure Haunt

Through Nov. 2 the Leavenworth Adventure Park is Leavenworth Adventure Haunt, transforming  into Gothic Bavarian Fairytale complete with skeletons, a creepy ballroom, and haunted house vibes.

The park has a “Spooky Selfie Station,” where visitors can capture the frightful fun with ghoulish props and eerie backdrops. Krampus, a mythical figure from Alpine folklore, will take over the courtyard all day.

After 5 p.m., the park comes alive with scary characters such as ghoulish ghosts, creepy Krampus and other frightful figures lurking in the shadows. Those looking to avoid the spooks can visit before the scary characters arrive for the evening, or visit on a Monday.

Pine Village KOA

The Leavenworth KOA campground will have a Halloween event on Nov. 1 for guests. The day will have tie-dye, crafting and pumpkin decorating in the afternoon, as well as trick or treating, a costume contest, and a RV/campground site decorating contest in the evening. The night will close with a family friendly movie night.
