EAST WENATCHEE — Two juveniles were arrested Tuesday evening after officers recovered a pistol with an extended magazine during a foot pursuit in the 200 block of North Georgia Avenue, just blocks from Eastmont High School.
According to the East Wenatchee Police Department, officers and Douglas County deputies were dispatched around 7 p.m. on November 25 after a caller reported a disturbance involving “gang members” and indicated that one individual at the scene might be armed.
When officers arrived, they found two of six reported juveniles in the area. One was detained immediately without incident. The second juvenile ran, prompting officers to give chase through the neighborhood. During the pursuit, the juvenile threw a handgun over a fence. Officers later recovered the firearm, which had an extended magazine.
Both juveniles were transported to Chelan County Juvenile Detention in Wenatchee. The 16-year-old who fled and discarded the gun was booked on suspicion of unlawful possession of a firearm, obstruction, and criminal mischief. The 15-year-old who remained at the scene was booked for criminal mischief.
Authorities said four additional juveniles believed to be involved have not yet been identified.
