Sustainable NCW to host Earth Day Fair on April 13

Posted

WENATCHEE—Sustainable NCW is hosting its annual Earth Day Fair at Pybus Market on Saturday, April 13, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. The event will feature 50 booths by local nonprofits, agencies, and small businesses inside Pybus' event room, on the patio, and on the south plaza.

This is Sustainable NCW’s sixth time hosting the event, which serves as an opportunity to learn, be inspired, and take action in the realm of environmental and social sustainability.

New this year, there are more booths than ever, and the entertainment lineup includes music by Wenatchee High School Mariachi, Pinnacles Prep Rock Band, Pinnacles Prep Orchestra, and Wenatchee Valley Youth Symphony, plus poetry by local poet Derek Sheffield. Taqueria El Tarasco and Crepe House will dish up delicious lunch options with zero waste stations for collecting all recyclable and compostable materials. Spanish interpreters will be on hand to help make all resources available.

Additionally, attendees can clean out their closets by bringing their old small electronic devices–computers, laptops, tablets, e-readers and phones–to a booth where they can be safely recycled through Washington State’s E-Cycle program and can also receive data destruction for a small $10 fee. Some restrictions apply and more information can be found here: https://www.sustainablencw.org/e-cycling

Returning this year: The Earth Day Fair is again one of Greater Wenatchee Arbor Day Committee’s distribution sites for trees and shrubs (by donation). The Cashmere Middle School Bike Repair Club will offer free bike repairs, bike and helmet giveaways, and learn-to-ride lessons for kids. Plug-In NCW will once again feature several different electric vehicle models. Don’t miss the third annual silent auction in the Pybus boardroom adjacent to the event room. All proceeds benefit Sustainable NCW, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit.

This year’s fair is sponsored by Cascade Autocenter, Thriving Together, Chelan County PUD’s Energy Saving Team, Link Transit, LocalTel Communications, The Nature Conservancy, Waste Management, Wenatchee Valley Chapter of the Climate Citizens Lobby, Wenatchee Valley Confluence Rotary, Winton Mfg Compost Works, Stemilt, Earthwise Pet, Plug-In NCW, and Andy Mills.

Sustainable NCW’s mission is to promote a culture of environmental stewardship and social sustainability in North Central Washington through inspiring and educating our community to live more sustainably. For more information, visit sustainablencw.org.
