TWISP — New York-based actor Terri Weagant will return to the Methow Valley next month to perform the one-woman play "Every Brilliant Thing" at the Twisp Valley Grange on April 11 and 12.
The 70-minute production, written by Duncan Macmillan with Jonny Donahoe and directed by Eva Tenuto, explores themes of depression and mental health through an immersive theatrical experience where audience members participate in telling the story alongside Weagant.
"Every Brilliant Thing" follows a narrator coping with her mother's mental health struggles while examining what makes life worth living. The performance will be staged in-the-round, with audience members surrounding the actor on all sides.
Weagant, who grew up in the Lake Chelan Valley, previously performed in Twisp in 2013 with another solo show, "The Amish Project," at the Merc Playhouse. She has since taken "Every Brilliant Thing" to audiences in New Paltz, NY, and San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, where it was featured in the inaugural San Miguel Solo Fest.
The Catskill Chronicle praised Weagant's performance, stating, "She tells her story with depth, courage, warmth and purpose. Weagant's performance is vibrant and lively, and she immediately makes the audience comfortable even while dealing with the difficult topic of depression."
Due to content addressing suicide, mental illness and depression, the production carries a content warning and is recommended for audiences 14 and older.
Tickets are available through Click4Tix, priced at $15 for adults and $5 for students aged 14-18.
Weagant's professional background includes work as an actor, writer, director, producer and dialect coach. Her performances have taken her across the United States and internationally to Canada, Australia, Mexico and the Czech Republic. Her regional theater credits include collaborations with Play On Shakespeare, Asolo Repertory Theatre, Seattle Shakespeare Company and several other notable companies.
