Pybus Art Alley to exhibit WVC Student art collection through June

Posted

WENATCHEE — Visitors to Wenatchee’s Pybus Public Market will soon have a chance to see a perfect visual representation of the art renaissance that’s been happening in the Wenatchee Valley for some time now. Starting June 6, student artists from Wenatchee Valley College will have their works on display at Pybus’ Art Alley, beginning with an artists’ reception to coincide with Wenatchee First Friday from 5–7 p.m.

The WVC Art Department has a wide variety of classes in the visual arts, and was proud to organize this exhibition in conjunction with Pybus and the highly talented students who contributed to the works that will be on display: Ella Dickmann, Natalie Jensen, Priscilla Rosales, Joanna Lavaun, Sylvia Gwozdz, Faith Cowgill and more will be highlighted during the monthlong show.

Scott Bailey, WVC’s art program director and MAC Gallery curator, expressed the school’s honor at being able “to share the results of their hard work and creativity with the community.”

This exhibition offers a glimpse into the high-caliber artwork produced by WVC's current students, representing a wide range of interests and backgrounds. The college's art department fosters an environment where students can develop skills to translate their unique ideas into compelling art.

WVC's Music and Art Center (MAC) provides advanced facilities and a supportive atmosphere for students of all ages and backgrounds to cultivate their artistic skills. Taught by practicing professionals, the department offers a comprehensive curriculum in various media, including drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, ceramics, design, illustration, digital and graphic design, and art history.

The art studios at WVC are vibrant spaces catering to diverse student interests, from those seeking Humanities credits to aspiring professional artists and local creatives. Classes encourage peer learning, bringing together Running Start students and adults in Continuing Education. This creates a rich environment where students can learn from each other's unique perspectives and experiences.

WVC President Faimous Harrison expressed immense delight with the featured students, saying “I am incredibly proud of the students who will be featured in the exhibit at the Pybus Art Alley. These students come from across North Central Washington to learn from world class faculty in first-rate facilities at Wenatchee Valley College. I am grateful to our art department

faculty for organizing this opportunity to showcase our talented students. This is a celebratory moment for our students, and we look forward to sharing it with our community here in the valley.”

The Art Alley at Pybus Market, a partnership with the Pybus Charitable Foundation, features new artists each month.
