TWISP -- The Okanogan County Search and Rescue (OCSAR) team is set to host a fundraising event this Thursday, July 11, at 1908 BBQ & Bourbon located at  101 N Glover Street in downtown Twisp. The event, running from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m., aims to raise awareness and funds for vital local search and rescue operations.

Attendees will have the opportunity to meet OCSAR volunteers and learn about various aspects of search and rescue, including K9 units, drone operations, water rescue, and high-angle rescue techniques. Soo Ing Moody, a Washington State Legislative District 7 Representative candidate, is scheduled to speak about the importance of OCSAR's mission in the community.

The event will feature a special menu item made with locally sourced brisket donated by Gebbers Meats. Twenty-five percent of the proceeds from this dish will be donated directly to OCSAR. Local musician Buz Brose will provide live entertainment throughout the evening.

Supporters who make a donation will be eligible to sign up for a free drone demonstration and enter a drawing for prizes. These include a night for two at Sun Mountain Lodge, merchandise from local businesses, Apple gift cards, and gear from outdoor equipment companies.

OCSAR officials emphasize the critical role of community support in maintaining their search and rescue capabilities. The organization encourages residents to attend the event, learn about volunteer opportunities, and consider making a donation to support their ongoing efforts in safeguarding the Okanogan County community.

The fundraiser will take place at 1908 BBQ & Bourbon, located at 101 N. Glover Street in Twisp.
