Nighttime crack sealing scheduled for SR 28 in Quincy starting March 23

QUINCY — A Washington State Department of Transportation maintenance crew will conduct crack sealing operations on a section of State Route 28 through Quincy beginning Sunday night, according to transportation officials.

The maintenance work will take place between 7 p.m. and 5:30 a.m. Sunday through Wednesday nights to minimize traffic disruptions. Crews will apply crack sealant to the highway through the city from the intersection of Road S NW to the intersection of O & M Road east of the canal.

Crack sealing is a preventative maintenance technique that involves applying rubberized asphalt to pavement cracks to prevent further deterioration from water infiltration and debris collection.

The project is expected to conclude by the morning of March 27, though officials noted that adverse weather conditions including rain, snow, or severe cold could alter the schedule.

Motorists traveling through the area during working hours should anticipate flagger-controlled traffic and possible delays. Officials advise checking the real-time travel map for current road conditions before departure.
