WINTHROP — Local students will have the opportunity to participate in a touring theater production later this month when the Missoula Children’s Theatre brings its show “Beauty Lou & the Country Beast” to the Methow Valley.
Auditions for the production are scheduled for April 20 from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. at Methow Valley Elementary School. Students entering first through 12th grade are eligible to audition, and no advance preparation is required. Approximately 50 to 60 roles are expected to be available for local participants.
Students planning to audition are asked to arrive at 3:30 p.m. and remain for the full two-hour session. Organizers say most students selected for the cast will begin rehearsal immediately following the audition period.
Rehearsals will continue throughout the week, running Monday through Friday, with most students scheduled to rehearse about 4 hours and 15 minutes each day.
Public performances of “Beauty Lou & the Country Beast” are scheduled for April 25 at Methow Valley Elementary School, with shows at 1:30 p.m. and 4:15 p.m.
The production is part of the Missoula Children’s Theatre’s international touring program and is presented locally by Methow Arts.
Methow Arts, a Twisp-based nonprofit founded in 1983, provides arts education, public art programs and community performances throughout Okanogan County and works with the Methow Valley School District to provide arts programming for students.
