Methow Swap Meet set for Saturday, May 17

METHOW – The second annual Methow Swap Meet is scheduled to get underway at 10 a.m., Saturday, May 17, at the Methow Community Club located 6 Arkansas Avenue next to the post office. Vendor spots are available for $20, and $15 for club members. Vendor setup is from 8-10 a.m. on the morning of the meet.

Methow resident Joe Kitzman said last year’s turnout featured about 30 venders and more than 200 shoppers. Along with some returning vendors from last year who have already signed up Kitzman said he hopes to see a couple of food vendors.

“We hope to have Sweet River Bakery back and Mill Hill Meats from Twisp,” said Kitzman. “Brewster Senior Center will have a booth.”

Lightning Bill Austin, whose art was a popular attraction last year, will not be returning since he now sells out of Pybus Market in Wenatchee. Kitzman said.

One never knows what good buys await at an out-of-the-way swap meet like Methow. Kitzman recalls vendor Bob Jackson from last year who sold some rare and highly sought items.

“He had some Star Wars figures still in their boxes,” said Kitzman. “Someone snapped them up real quick.”

Swap Meet proceeds will go toward maintenance of the Community Club building built in the 1920’s that the club recently purchased from the Pateros School District.
