Methow Descendants to host open house at ancestral site

WINTHROP -- The mətx̌ʷu/Methow Descendants are hosting an open house to share their traditional knowledge and activities with the public.

The event will take place on Saturday, September 21, from 1 to 3 p.m. at x̌ʷnámx̌ʷnam, also known as Hummingbird Ranch, located at 523B Eastside Chewuch Road in Winthrop.

The open house is free and open to all community members interested in learning about the mətx̌ʷu/Methow People, who have inhabited the Methow Valley since time immemorial.

The property, x̌ʷnámx̌ʷnam (Hummingbird Ranch), is owned by the Confederated Tribes of the Colville Reservation on behalf of the mətx̌ʷu/Methow People. It serves as an important place for the mətx̌ʷu/Methow Descendants to preserve and share their traditional knowledge.

This event offers an opportunity for the public to engage with the mətx̌ʷu/Methow Descendants and learn about their cultural heritage and traditional activities in their homeland.
