Manson Chamber cuts ribbon on new headquarters, launches vision for community’s future

Posted

MANSON – The ribbon cutting ceremony that signaled the official opening of the Manson Chamber of Commerce’s new headquarters at 590 E. Wapato Street on Saturday, June 28, reflected the community spirit and energy befitting the occasion.

The move comes after some five years at the Chambers' previous headquarters at 17 Hale Street.

In response to the question about future city incorporation, Chamber Executive Director Timi Starkweather said the chamber has assembled a committee called the Manson One Voice Coalition comprised of the chamber, community council, and Historic Manson Main Street Association.

“They are the stakeholders involved in our community,” said Starkweather. “We have held four community forums so far and we will hold two more in September and come up with a visioning for Manson for the next five, 10, 15 years.”

Starkweather added that out of those forums it is hoped the community will decide whether t move forward with incorporation or stay as they are.

In the meantime, the city is gearing up to hold its very first triathlon, the 2025 Chelanathon, on Sept. 6.

“We are expecting 600 participants,” Starkweather said.

The swim-bike-run event will include:

  • 24.2 mile bike course.
  • 6.3 mile run course.
  • Swim course of sprint and Olympic distances.
