Manson American Legion to host annual Memorial Day ceremony

Posted

MANSON — The Manson American Legion will hold its annual Memorial Day Celebration on Monday, May 26, beginning at 11 a.m., and invites the public to attend the solemn event honoring the nation’s fallen service members.

The ceremony will take place at the American Legion Park, with local traditions once again at the center of the observance. The Lake Chelan Patriotic Singers will open the event with a series of patriotic songs. Tower 51 from the Manson Fire Department will raise a large American flag, which will fly over the ceremony as a tribute to those who died in service to their country.

Wade Farris, Chelan City Administrator, will serve as this year’s guest speaker. Farris is a veteran and former U.S. Air Force colonel with more than two decades of military service. His remarks are expected to reflect on the meaning of Memorial Day and the importance of honoring military sacrifice.

Manson High School students will assist with the event, continuing a long-standing tradition of student involvement in the ceremony. Following the program, attendees will be offered coffee, cookies, and poppies in remembrance of those who served.

The event is open to all community members.
