WENATCHEE — A Wenatchee man was arrested Sunday after Chelan County sheriff’s deputies said he assaulted two people with a machete following a dispute over money.
Deputies responded at about 7:35 p.m. May 17 to reports of a stabbing in the 200 block of West Peters Street, according to the Chelan County Sheriff’s Office.
Investigators said the assault stemmed from a verbal argument over money. Authorities said the suspect left the scene and later returned with a machete before attacking the two victims.
One victim suffered injuries to the left arm and shoulder, while the second victim sustained an injury to the right arm. Both received medical treatment, according to the sheriff’s office.
Deputies identified the suspect as 44-year-old Teodoso Alvarez-Hernandez of Wenatchee. Authorities said deputies located Alvarez-Hernandez at a camper in the 3000 block of School Street, where he was taken into custody without incident.
During the arrest, deputies reported seeing a machete on the passenger-side floorboard of the suspect’s vehicle. The vehicle was impounded pending a search warrant, and investigators later recovered the weapon believed to have been used in the assault.
Alvarez-Hernandez was booked into the Chelan County Regional Justice Center on two counts of second-degree assault.
