ICCA Visiting Artist Series returns with performances across genres and cultures

Posted

LEAVENWORTH —The Icicle Creek Center for the Arts (ICCA) Visiting Artist season is returning for the 2025-2026 season, bringing in performing artists from across the Pacific Northwest and beyond to teach and demonstrate their creative processes in the classroom and through performance.

During their residency, artists travel directly to schools to share their processes, perform for students, and lead interactive learning experiences. These visits are offered at no cost to schools in order to remove barriers to arts access and ensure students are able to engage with the arts in a meaningful, educational way.

Each residency will culminate with a public performance at ICCA’s Snowy Owl Theater, offering the community an opportunity to experience the artists up close. Ticket proceeds from public performances directly support ICCA’s ability to continue offering arts programming and education for students and families throughout the region.

Proceeds from ICCA’s new interactive fundraiser, Give a Hoot - Art Walk, will also directly benefit art education initiatives and programs, including the Visiting Artist Series. The event is scheduled for Oct. 11 on the shared campus of ICCA and Sleeping Lady Mountain Resort.

The series will begin on Sept. 26 with Alchemy Tap Project, a Seattle-based ensemble of highly trained tap dancers who fuse innovation and excellence in performances that push the boundaries of rhythmic dance.

On Oct. 24, award-winning Seattle jazz trio Duende Libre will blend jazz virtuosity with roots rhythms drawn from Cuba, Brazil, and West Africa.

For two days in December – the 11th and 12th – Jarabe Mexicano will present a “Bordeño‐Soul” fusion of Mexican folk, Norteño/Tex‐Mex, Latin rock, reggae‐cumbia, and rock & roll delivered through bilingual harmonies and dynamic stage presence.

More performances will follow in March, with the Hip-Hop Orchestra Experience merging classical orchestration with hip-hop lyricism using strings, woodwinds, brass, piano, drums and MCs. The genre-blurring concert experience is scheduled for March 14 at Numerica PAC in Wenatchee.

Project Convergence will wrap up the Visiting Artist Series with a performance on March 20. Co-directed by Vikas Arun, Project Convergence is a groundbreaking collaboration that unites tap dance and Bharatanatyam to create a polyrhythm of cultures, celebrating the beauty of cultural exchange without erasing individual identities.
