EAST WENATCHEE—The City of East Wenatchee has commenced the Highline Drive Stormwater Project, which, according to city officials, is expected to cause road closures and delays through September 6.
The project, funded by a grant from the Department of Ecology, involves installing a new stormwater facility at the intersection of Pace Drive and Highline Drive. The infrastructure upgrade will alleviate pressure on the existing stormwater system along Grant Road, which has become undersized due to the city's growth.
The new facility will divert water from the Grant Road basin east of Eastmont Avenue, reducing the strain on the current system and improving overall stormwater management efficiency. Construction is scheduled to be completed by September 6.
Throughout the project, Highline Drive and Pace Drive will be subject to closures or flagging to facilitate the installation of a stormwater line in Highline Drive and the relocation of a water main in Pace Drive.
City officials advise residents and commuters to plan accordingly and allow extra travel time during the construction period.
