Flywheel Investment Conference applications opened February 1 - Over $150,000 In awards

WENATCHEE – The annual Flywheel Investment Conference, presented by Ogden Murphy Wallace, Microsoft, and Clark Nuber, announces the opening of applications for its highly anticipated 2025 investment competition. Applications opened on February 1, inviting early-stage companies across Washington State to compete for investment awards starting at $150,000.

The 2024 Flywheel Investment Conference was a milestone event, drawing attendees from over 100 zip codes to Wenatchee. Since its inception, Flywheel has received 385 applications, with 48 companies presenting and $1.5 million awarded in investments. Finalists have gone on to secure millions more in follow-on funding, cementing Flywheel’s role as a catalyst for startup growth in Washington State.

For 2025, Flywheel is unveiling a refreshed format and a new conference date of May 21-23. Enhancements include sector-specific sessions, an expanded exhibitor hall, more networking opportunities, and exciting keynote speakers. The three-day event will culminate in the Top Six Competition on May 23, where finalists will compete live for investment awards.

Companies seeking angel investment are encouraged to apply for a chance to secure funding at Flywheel. The Flywheel Conference offers over $150,000 in total investment opportunities, including a $50,000 relocation incentive and a $5,000 audience favorite cash prize awarded by attendee vote.

The competition is open to a diverse range of industries, encouraging Washington State-based companies to showcase their potential. There is no fee to apply. Applicants submitting a complete application will receive a 50% discount on conference tickets and recognition for their participation. Each year, the Flywheel Angel Network establishes a new LLC to invest in competition winners. The Flywheel Conference 2025 Fund LLC will be led by Leonard (Len) Backus, a distinguished startup sales leader. Len has built and led sales teams at over a dozen tech companies, two of which achieved IPOs and others that successfully underwent mergers and acquisitions. 

Currently an angel investor and fractional VP of Sales based in central Washington, Len holds a BS from the University of Washington and an MS from USC as a Hughes Masters Fellow. His experience as VP International for two public companies and his extensive global network in emerging tech and sales channels uniquely position him to lead this year’s fund.

The Flywheel Fund is accepting new accredited investors for 2025. Investment participation offers a unique opportunity to support innovative startups based in Washington State.
