WENATCHEE — Easter is just days away, and for many in the Valley it’s a time of reflection, fellowship and celebration. And it’s a holiday that usually comes with traditional foods and activities, as well. Wenatchee has a full slate of possibilities for your Easter Sunday, no matter what your traditions are. The entire weekend, as usual in this town, is packed to the rafters with things to do.
Many will begin their day with a church service, and you can find out if there’s a special Easter service at your own church by contacting them. One of the larger churches in Wenatchee, Awaken Church, is planning a family affair event with a photo booth and Easter egg games for kids all the way through 6th grade. The three Easter services at Awaken will be every 90 minutes, beginning at 8:30 a.m. and ending at 1 p.m., and there’s even one the night before, at 7 p.m.
But if you’re in the mood for brunch after, or if the kids want to hunt eggs, or you just want to hang out and enjoy the lovely scenery in our valley, Sunday, April 20th is a better day than most (especially for the egg hunting; they’re hard to find other times of the year).
From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday, Chateau Faire Le Pont will have an Easter Brunch with gourmet entrees and mimosas and a scenic view, and reservations are recommended. If you get hungry a lot earlier than that, the Hampton Lodge at Mission Ridge starts serving their own Easter Breakfast Buffet at 7:30 a.m., and advance tickets are just $19.99 for adults ($14.99 for kids 12 and under).
Because people know that the actual holiday is mostly reserved for family, the large events for Easter egg hunting take place on Saturday. And Saturday April 19 promises a couple of really good ones.
The annual Wells House Easter Egg Hunt on the Lawn is happening on the Wenatchee Valley College campus as always, starting promptly at 11 a.m. Registration is required, and the cost is $5 per child. In return, they get a hoppin’ good time and if they’re extra nice to the Easter Bunny, who will be making an appearance, he’ll pose for pictures and cheer them on as they fill the baskets they bring from home.
If you and the family want to make a day of it, when you finish up at the college, you can head over to Colonial Vista Senior Living at 1 p.m. for their Easter Fun Fair. Kids can participate in another egg hunt, play carnival games for prizes, meet the Easter Bunny again (after a quick change, of course), have popcorn and pose for more memorable photos from this year’s celebration.
Whatever you and your family do this Easter, there are plenty of options all over town to create memories with your loved ones. Happy Easter!
