WENATCHEE — A familiar spring gathering returns to the Wenatchee Valley College campus on April 18, bringing together dozens of organizations, hands-on activities, and a shared focus on how the region cares for the place it calls home.

Sustainable NCW’s annual Earth Day Fair is scheduled for April 18 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the college’s Wenatchee campus, with activities centered around the fountain and open spaces that have become a regular hub for the event.

More than 50 vendors and community groups are expected to participate, offering everything from interactive exhibits to practical demonstrations. The day is designed to be both educational and accessible, with activities for children, families, and anyone curious about local efforts around sustainability.

The event begins earlier in the morning with a free yoga class at 9:30 a.m. in the Van Tassell Center. From there, the campus fills with opportunities to explore, including bike repair and maintenance tips, planting activities, a scavenger hunt, and a guided tree tour.

Across the grounds, organizations will share information about topics ranging from recycling and pollinators to local fish, wildlife, and transportation. Link Transit and Plug-In NCW are expected to bring electric vehicles and buses for display, while a mix of performers will rotate throughout the day, including Washington State Poet Laureate Derek Sheffield, local student groups, and community performers.

Food vendors will be on site, with an emphasis on reducing waste through compostable serving materials. A dedicated station will be available for sorting recyclable and compostable items, reflecting the event’s focus on practical, everyday sustainability.

Organizers encourage attendees to arrive by walking, biking, or using transit when possible. Additional bike parking will be available, and parking on campus will be free for the event.

The fair is hosted in partnership with Wenatchee Valley College, which continues to open its campus as a gathering place for community events tied to education and regional collaboration.
