LEAVENWORTH — A Texas man who drove a pickup truck recklessly through Leavenworth’s Front Street Park last winter has been sentenced to jail time, restitution and community service.
According to Chelan County Superior Court records, Zachary Soltis pleaded guilty to Malicious Mischief in the Second Degree. The 29-year-old was captured on camera doing donuts in the park at around 1 a.m. on Dec. 22, 2024. The spinning vehicle flung mud around the park and caused rivets in a 90 foot by 50 foot section of lawn area, causing about $16,000 in damage. The damage forced a temporary closure of the park, which is used as a sledding hill during winter months.
Soltis was ordered to pay over $8,000 to the City of Leavenworth, sentenced to 20 days of jail time, and must serve 160 hours of community service. According to court documents, the judge noted that the defendant’s license would be revoked in his home state.
