Community turns out for annual Fowl Play 5k on Thanksgiving morning

LEAVENWORTH — Approximately 430 people braved the rain and snow to participate in the annual Fowl Play 5k, a Thanksgiving morning tradition.

For over a decade, the turkey trot has brought the community together – from experienced runners and walkers to pets and kids in strollers – for a little exercise before the big meal. While many donned their warmest running attire this year, others kept the costume tradition alive, dressing as elves, turkeys and more as they ran, walked, and trotted through downtown Leavenworth. Proceeds from the fun run support the Cascade High School Cross Country team, which organizes the event.

“I’m so glad that our community could show up and come together in the dumping snow and rain. It’s a Leavenworth tradition that I’m so glad got to be repeated again!” said CHS Assistant Cross Country Coach Landon Davies in an email to Ward Media.
