Community Foundation awards $31,800 in grants to youth-focused programs across NCW

WENATCHEE — The Community Foundation of North Central Washington (CFNCW) has awarded $31,800 in grants through its NCW Foundation for Youth program over the past year, funding projects that serve young people across Chelan, Douglas, and Okanogan counties.

The NCW Foundation for Youth Grant, which began in 2017, offers up to $1,000 in funding for programs benefiting local youth. Grants are awarded every other month, enabling nonprofits and public agencies to quickly respond to evolving community needs.

This year’s recipients include a diverse range of initiatives such as music and arts programs, outdoor recreation, leadership development, and efforts addressing food insecurity. One of the largest grants, totaling $10,300, supported the “Shop with a Cop” initiative operated by the Wenatchee and East Wenatchee police departments. The program provides holiday support to children and remains eligible for expanded funding under a continuing agreement from a prior grant initiative.

“Our goal is to provide direct funding resources to local organizations that are creating safe, supportive, and enriching opportunities for youth,” said Beth Stipe, executive director of the CFNCW. “This funding allows them to be flexible and responsive in meeting the evolving needs of the young people they serve.”

Among other grant recipients were the Thrive Chelan Valley Food2Schools program, Wenatchee Jazz Association’s youth workshop, and multiple backpack food programs administered by churches and school districts throughout the region.

The Foundation continues to accept applications year-round, with new grants awarded every two months. More information is available at www.cfncw.org/grants.
