Cohnor Pruitt receives Chelan VFW nursing scholarship

Posted

CHELAN – Chelan Post 6853 Veterans of Foreign Wars has named Cohnor Pruitt as the recipient of the 2025 Colonel Katherine Sereau Nursing Scholarship.

Pruitt was selected from a competitive pool of applicants across the region and will receive scholarship funds to support his pursuit of an advanced nursing degree. Each year, the scholarship recognizes exceptional students for their contributions to research and outstanding academic performance in the health sciences.

“Cohnor has routinely made the dean’s list, setting his standards high at the Wenatchee Valley College Nursing Program,” said Master Chief Charlie Keeton of the VFW.

Before beginning his nursing studies, Pruitt served as a Fleet Marine Corpsman, providing critical combat casualty care for wounded Marine infantry in Iraq and Afghanistan. He now resides in Chelan Falls with his wife, Michelle, their son, and twin daughters.

The scholarship is made possible through the Chelan Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6853 Scholarship Endowment. Colonel Katherine Sereau, for whom the scholarship is named, served as an Army nurse in Vietnam, leaving a lasting legacy that continues to support the development of exceptional nursing professionals.

Those interested in contributing to the scholarship fund can visit Post 6853’s website at post6853.org.
