CASHMERE — Cashmere’s City Pool, at 104 Paton Street in the Cashmere Water Park, is reopening for the summer season this year on June 12.
Built to offer a safer alternative to swimming in the Wenatchee River, Cashmere’s pool has become a vital community space. It serves as a place for children to learn how to swim and hang out with their friends. Its accessible location allows frequent visits on foot or by bicycle.
The town's first "pool," established in the 1920s, saw concrete construction and a bathhouse added in 1936. A filtration system was installed in 1950, followed by the current bathhouse in 1979. A 2003 reconstruction was funded by a 2001 grant from the Washington Wildlife and Recreation Coalition.
Open from mid-June to Labor Day, the heated, outdoor pool offers plenty of amenities. Swim teams compete with neighboring towns, and information on joining one can be found at the pool.
Single-day general admission for residents or non-residents is just $5, but if you or the kids plan on swimming a lot this summer, a 20-punch pass is $80. You can also get individual or family season passes that allow you to swim as much as you like. Prices do increase for season passes for non-residents and for lessons.
In fact, if you’re having a birthday party or other event on a Saturday or Sunday, you can rent the pool by the hour with lifeguards available (and required at a 30-to-1 ratio). Contact Pool Manager Christie Bagley at 509-782-1300 for availability or for more information about swim times, closures or any other questions.
