BREWSTER — Brewster edged Cascade 3-2 in a varsity soccer match Tuesday, Sept. 22, while the Cascade junior varsity team earned a 2-0 win in a shortened match.
Cascade took an early 1-0 varsity lead when Wren Knight scored on a shot from outside the 18-yard box. Brewster quickly equalized before adding a second goal to take the lead.
Cascade's Zoie Burpee tied the match at 2-2 after capitalizing on a bouncing ball in the box and putting it into the net.
Brewster scored its third goal to secure the 3-2 victory.
Cascade's junior varsity team followed with a 2-0 win in a match shortened to two 30-minute halves because the field did not have lights.
Athena scored on a breakaway to give Cascade the lead. Phoebe added the second goal, tapping in a loose ball during a scramble in the box.
Cascade's varsity and junior varsity teams are scheduled to return to action Thursday, Sept. 23.
