WENATCHEE – The Wenatchee Bighorns have named JP Davis their head coach for the 2024 season. With a background of coaching and playing across 25 countries, Davis is currently residing in Darwin, Australia. He plans to relocate to the Wenatchee Valley later this month to assume his new role.

Davis shared his enthusiasm about joining the Bighorns, "I'm excited to bring over two decades of basketball experience to Wenatchee. The TBL presents its challenges, including a tight timeline to mold a cohesive team and grueling road trips in our conference. Nevertheless, we're determined to establish a Championship culture on and off the court.”

Known for his defensive strategy and a dribble drive offensive approach, Davis aims to exploit opponents’ weaknesses through teamwork and strategic plays. Anthony Williams, CEO of the Bighorns, praised Davis, saying, “A proven champion and a verified professional perfectionist on the court, his body of work is impeccable with a rich history of winning and leading high-level teams every place he has been.”

Davis’s coaching career spans from Mount Vernon Prep in Georgia to international stints at MPAC Sports Academy in Dubai and various Australian entities. He emphasizes discipline, balanced pace, and fundamentals in his coaching philosophy.

Apart from coaching, Davis might also play, given his extensive experience as a professional player and his current leading position in assists per game in the TBL. Williams commented on Davis's leadership, stating, “His leadership is off the chart. It forces players to a point of maximum productivity while being accountable. That effort will translate to good player habits by practicing what he preaches.”

Davis also values education, holding a Masters in Education from Grand Canyon University. He is committed to positively impacting the Wenatchee community and empowering youth, stating, "Beyond basketball, I'm committed to making a positive impact in the Wenatchee community and empower the next generation."
