WENATCHEE—Twenty-six students in Washington, including several from North Central Washington, have been awarded scholarships through AgWest Farm Credit’s 2025 scholarship program, totaling $65,000 in educational funding across the state.
AgWest Farm Credit, a cooperative lender serving the agricultural industry, distributed $330,000 in scholarships this year to 132 students across its seven-state service region. Each recipient received a $2,500 award to support post-secondary education, with scholarships divided into three categories: Championing Agriculture, Customer, and Employee.
“AgWest is honored to provide scholarships for these impressive students, and we are confident this investment in the future will pay strong dividends for the agriculture industry and rural communities we serve,” said AgWest President and CEO Bill Perry.
Among the local recipients, five students from Wenatchee earned awards: Jackeline Serrano Rodriguez (Washington State University) received the Championing Agriculture Scholarship; John Godwin (Whitworth University), Petra Ringsrud (University of Washington), and Afton, Grant, and Connor Torgesen (Brigham Young University) received Customer Scholarships.
Other students in North Central Washington recognized include Leslie Vite of Prosser, Olivia Olsen of Sunnyside, and Anais Atilano of Prosser, all attending Washington State University. Vite received the Championing Agriculture Scholarship, while Olsen and Atilano received Customer and Employee Scholarships, respectively.
The Championing Agriculture Scholarship is reserved for students pursuing degrees related to the agriculture sector. The Customer Scholarship supports students who are customers or dependents of AgWest customers, and the Employee Scholarship is designated for children of AgWest employees.
